Grand Canyon Adventure 2015
As of today we are officially one week away from the start of our Grand Canyon R2R2R Adventure for 2015. The weather looks great. A little cooler, with some light rain. Perfect! I know that my mindset is completely different than last year. For one, I have a better understanding of what to expect. Number two and most important, I have a new found respect for the power and beauty of the Grand Canyon. It truly is much more than just 46 miles. It’s more than the 10,141 feet of climbing and 10,541 feet of down hills! There is something magical about the Canyon that has captivated my spirit and has inspired me this past year. All my others runs, races and my training have been done with the end in mind, The Grand Canyon. My main concern has been to not let that overwhelm my thinking, but to create an atmosphere of fun and adventure! To me it has become more than a run, it truly is an adventure. I just want my team, which includes my daughter, Nichole Ortega and her husband Felix Ortega to have a memorable experience! With that in mind, the focus has been on fun, excitement and memories. It has made our training, which many times can be long, hot and painful to have purpose. This purpose has become our fuel!
So, this week I will post as many posts as possible to set the scene for what will be an epic adventure that will live on in our lives for the rest of our lives. Hopefully to continue to inspire others in our family, and those we touch to achieve their own epic adventures in their own lives. Because what’s the point of living if you aren’t chasing your own Grand Canyon Adventure!
