I was out for a long run recently and as usual many thoughts were racing through my mind. This is my time to spend in reflection. I was reflecting how years ago when I had owned a rehabilitatin facility and had many clients who were struggling with very serious physical issues. I would think to myself, If they could speak to their younger yourself, what would they say? Have your ever wondered yourself, depending of course on your age, what a 90 year old you would say to you today?

This is my first official blog about running my first 100-mile race. Although I have been doing ultra-trail races since September of 2013. None has been longer than the 100K, about 62 miles, which I completed with my daughter, Nichole Ortega, in February of 2016 at the Black Canyon Ultras. So let me start by saying I am doing the Javelina Jundred on October 29-30 of 2106. Excuse the spelling of Jundred. It’s how Aravaipa spells it for this particular race. As I was pushing myself up to the summit of Lookout Mountain, which sits conveniently 2 short blocks north of my house, my mind was racing with all that I’ve been through physically this past 4 plus months, since beginning my “Fat Adapted” journey.
